Eligibility for the Federal Internship Program

Applicants to the Making the Difference Federal Internship Program must be United States citizens. The program is open to rising sophomores, juniors and seniors as well as graduate students.

Acquisition and engineering are two mission critical occupations in the federal government and require unique skills.

  • Acquisition: While internships in federal acquisition are not limited to business majors, applicants should have education or experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Accounting;
    • Contracting;
    • Business law;
    • Finance;
    • Purchasing;
    • Economics;
    • Organization; and
    • Management.
  • Engineering: Engineering is a diverse field and the federal government offers something for everyone. Among the possible engineering specialties available in federal agencies are:
    • Mechanical engineering;
    • Chemical engineering;
    • Electronics engineering;
    • Civil engineering;
    • Aerospace engineering; and General engineering.
