Making the Difference Federal Internship Program
The Making the Difference Federal Internship Program provides a one-of-a-kind summer experience for college students. While other internship programs are limited to summer-long work experiences, the Making the Difference Federal Internship Program goes further to match a student’s professional goals to career options in the federal government. If you are a college student interested in a career with the federal government, the Making the Difference Federal Internship Program may provide the perfect internship opportunity for you.
Launched by the Partnership for Public Service in December 2008, the program offers 30 paid internship positions with federal agencies in acquisition and engineering during the summer of 2009. The program also offers professional development training and subsidized housing in Washington, D.C.
Professional Development Training and Housing
While most DC-based internship programs offer academic coursework over the summer, the Partnership will present career-focused professional development opportunities to Federal Internship Program participants. Weekly sessions will include:
- A panel of young, dynamic federal employees discussing exciting career opportunities in the federal government
- A presentation on the multigenerational workforce that will help you to successfully communicate and influence others
- A workshop teaching you how to find and apply for federal jobs
- A group of agency recruiters and hiring managers reviewing your federal resume and offering tips to improve your chances of being offered a position
- Tours of various federal agencies; and
- Much more!
The Partnership will also provide subsidized housing at The George Washington University (GWU) for the duration of your summer internship. GWU’s central location in Foggy Bottom, easy access to public transportation and safe, friendly atmosphere make it the premier place to spend your summer.
